Penilaian vaksinasi menurut Maqasid Syariah di Malaysia

Abstract

Today, vaccine use has become a hot issue amongst the public in Malaysia regardless of educational background or standard of living. The debate on social media and the website has witnessed a dispute about the contents of vaccine in terms of its dubious status of halal and cleanliness. Even prevention methods through vaccination are also disputed whether they are in line with the requirements of Islamic law. Hence, questions arises such as: What is a vaccine and its contents? What is the success of the vaccination method that has been achieved at the global and local level? What is Maqasid Syariah and the instruments or methods adopted by the scholars of maqasidi in the discussion of a matter of no evidence about it? What is the view of Islamic law in using illegal, unclean and hazardous materials? How do vaccines and methods of vaccination are weighed through Maqasid Syariah and what fatwa has been gazetted at the national level? All these are the scope of the questions that should be elaborated. The study aims to see the role of vaccine through Maqasid Syariah using the elements and instruments contained in it with regard to religion, life, intellect, heredity, and wealth, as well as the survey between maslahah and mafsadah. The study adopted full qualitative method by making the University's library as a place to search for materials, as well as the use of Maktabah Syameelah, related journals, sources from the internet, as well as some newspaper clippings. Therefore, this study is expected to open the door of understanding to certain groups so that an open space for debate could be done more harmoniously and discussed through honest academic scope. As a result, the understanding of the background of the vaccine as well as the method of vaccination can be understood under Maqasid Syariah consideration.
