Abstract:
Although research on Reverse Knowledge Transfer (RKT) from a subsidiary to its headquarters becomes more compelling, the debate on the basic determinants of RKT has not yet reached an academic consensus. Therefore, this article attempts to fully understand the two different continents of RKT between emerging market countries and developing countries. Through a 10- year comprehensive systematic review of top journals, 30 articles on reverse knowledge transfer were identified in three major global databases published from January 2012 to January 2021. This thematic analysis identified interesting literature gaps and made recommendations to conceptualise the similarities and differences between reverse knowledge transfer (RKT) in emerging market countries and developing countries, to contribute to a better understanding of the two phenomena, and provide basic management in assisting corporate executives in global strategic planning and knowledge, as well as scholars in future academic research.
