dc.description.abstract This article presents an analysis on the specific needs of the Arabic Language for the participants of the Arabic language course organized by the Pusat Pembelajaran Sepanjang Hayat & Pengantarabangsaan at the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAMS) in collaboration with the University of Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCeD). The study was carried out using descriptive approach and the field approach to identify the needs of the Arabic learners as a foreign language for the participants in this course. A questionnaire as a research tool was distributed to 20 respondents and the data collected were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The results showed that the respondents’ needs to the Arabic language exceeded religious purposes for professional purposes such as economy and culture. This research, therefore, recommends the importance of designing syllabus and models to meet the respondents’ needs of learning Arabic language. en_US
